Mental Wellness
At the Beinoni Foundation, it is recognized that a healthy mind is a receptive vessel for learning, garnering meaning and experiencing joy and connection. Mental or emotional challenges may hinder this readiness, as well as the ability to pursue one’s life goal. Any mental or emotional challenge is seen as a personal struggle no different from any other an individual may encounter on life’s path. Just like any other illness, psychological and emotional disturbance requires professional treatment suitable to the situation. Strength of character is required to recognize the need for professional assistance for emotional disturbance--it is not an indication of spiritual failure, laziness, or willfulness. As a people we must care for, nurture to health, and seek both medical and divine assistance in healing any individual with emotional challenges. Stigmatizing, blaming, and failing to recognize and treat mental and emotional disturbance come as a great price to the individual, family, and community.
Projects which support the importance of mental and emotional wellness, as well as the seeking professional assistance for these challenges are encouraged. We must recognize the valor in treating mental illness and recognize the struggler, as no different from oneself, as we are one nation.
